Whether it was the largest opening day car count or the largest opening day crowd since opening day in 1996 or the launching of a new division, this night had it all. Not to mention some awesome side by side racing.
On a gorgeous May night, Speedway 660 introduced its Bandolero division with kids ranging in age from 8 to 15. Eight of these miniature stock cars raced for the checkers with the no 8 of DJ Casey winning the event in the Young Guns category and the 9 year old Ryan Messer winning the Bandits category in his inaugural Bandolero ride. As a whole the group of youngsters put on an excellent display of driving skill with some great racing through the field. Co-owner Chris Johnston said “It’s amazing the talent these kids have at this age. They drive those cars like their veterans.”

The 2010 season is about to begin at Atlantic Canada’s most exciting stock car racing track! It’s been almost nine months since Speed Weekend, but our long wait will soon be over when the Riverview Ford/Lincoln Season Opener “goes green” this Saturday night.
There are a number of reasons to get excited about every season opener. We get to see great short track racing after a long off-season; the cars look great; it’s interesting to see who has moved from division to division as well as seeing new drivers. But best of all, it’s about seeing the fans, sponsors, race teams and staff who are part of the Speedway 660 racing family.
The Season Opener also brings back memories of friends who are no longer with us. People like Hughie Yorke, Sonny McRae, Frankie Moore, Bradley Logan’s dad, Ralph Brown, Alan Shirley’s dad, Gerry Tremblay and Scott Fraser. There are several other members of our racing family who have passed away in recent years, who we will never forget.
Fredericton, NB - It’s that time of year again, the wait is over, let the summer festivities begin. This Saturday the 2010 season will open with the Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener. There will be points racing in every division, the Leisure Family RV.com Street Stocks, the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman, Coastal Blending& Packaging Pro Stocks. In addition, fans will see the return of the 4 cylinder division, as well as the newly launched Bandolero division. Everything gets underway at 7pm with heats, dashes and features in all divisions.
ATTENTION RACERS: Just an update for the race teams that the Street Stock and Sportsman tires have landed at the Speedway. We will be available for tires sales from 10am-until 4pm on Thursday May 20th and 10am-2pm on Friday May 21st. Fredericton, NB – With just over two weeks until the Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener, Riverview and Speedway 660 are announcing a TEST DRIVE promotion where anyone who stops in to Riverview and test drives one of their vehicles will receive 2 complimentary passes to the May 29th Season Opener.
This season will mark the addition of two new divisions that will run on a semi-fulltime basis at Speedway 660. The 4 cylinder weekly division saw limited exposure in 2009 and will run 6 events in 2010. Car counts look to be growing in this division and upwards to 10-12 cars are expected to start the 2010 season. The 4 cylinder division is geared as an entry level division and is open to competitors 14 years old and up.
